Chief Range Safety Officers train and supervise NRA Range Safety Officers. The CRSO can develop range standard operating procedures. Course prerequisites are required for this course, see below. Course length: 14 hours.
The Chief Range Safety Officer course develops candidates who possess the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to train and supervise NRA Range Safety Officers.
Candidate and Course Requirements: The prospective Chief Range Safety Officer candidate must:
1.) have successfully completed the NRA Basic Range Safety Officer course.
2.) be an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer.
3.) complete and submit the precourse questionnaire. The precourse questionnaire can be completed on-line here: Pre-Course Questionnaire.
4.) successfully complete the Basic Instructor Training and NRA Chief Range Safety Officer training. Sessions include standard operating procedures, inspections, emergency procedures, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, safety briefings.
5.) demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises.
6.) complete the NRA Basic Instructor Training and NRA Chief Range Safety Course examinations with a minimum score of ninety (90) percent.
7.) attend and participate in both of the days' lessons.
8.) finalize the credentialing process at nrainstructors.org within 30 days after the course report was submitted.
